WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama plans to deliver his annual State of the Union address on Jan. 27 and will present his budget plan on Feb. 1, senior administration officials said on Monday.

The date of Obama's speech to Congress had been closely guarded as he worked with congressional Democrats in an effort to hammer out a healthcare overhaul, which he had hoped to have finalized before addressing the American people.

With some key issues unresolved on the healthcare front, it remained uncertain, however, whether a bill would be done by then.

Obama can be expected to lay out his spending priorities in the speech, which comes five days before he unveils his proposed federal budget for fiscal 2011 as he seeks to boost economic recovery and spur job creation amid double-digit unemployment.

Obama will deliver the 2010 State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress at 9 p.m. EST on Jan. 27 (0200 Jan 28), the White House said in a statement.
